The focus of the Presbyterian Healthcare Services program curriculum are threefold
- An intensive participation in pastoral ministry to patients, patients' families and staff in the multi-cultural setting of PHS with the supervision of an ACPE certified chaplain supervisor.
- Intensive collegial participation in an educational peer group.
- Engagement in a reflective learning process with individual and group supervision that assists in the development and integration of personal and professional identity, the enhancement of pastoral skills and the ability to assess the theological, psychological and social implications of one's pastoral functioning.
Pastoral Reflection, Pastoral Formation, and Pastoral Competence are the primary learning goals that guide the learning contract between the student and supervisor.
Basic computer skills are a necessity, as all members of the department participate in regular data collection and entry on the computer.
There is no stipend for the program. The non-refundable application fee is $30.00. Tuition cost is $350.00 per unit.
Application may be made by completing the application and sending it by ground mail. After receipt of a completed application and application fee, a face to face interview may be arranged with the Supervisor for the unit. For out-of -state applicants, a written screening interview with a Presbtyerian CPE Supervisor will be needed, followed by a telephone interview with the Presbyterian CPE Admissions committee.
